The story about the indestructible headphones

Back in 2011, December, I decided to get the new iPhone 4s. It was a big step for me, getting something that expensive for myself. And with them came a headset. The regular iPhone headset.
At first, I didn’t think about them that much, they hurt my ears and were pretty basic in my opinion. So I put them away, using my iPod when I listened to music and not wearing a headset when I talked on the phone.

Then, I started spending hours on the phone, talking to friends and I found it much more convenient to have both my hands free, being able to do other stuff as well as talking. With my phone in my back pocket and the headset on, I still struggled with them hurting my ears, so I thought ”why not just switch the sides?” So I did. Left goes in right and right goes in left. And so the headphone-age started for me.

I’ve been using them every day for almost a year now and they have been through a lot.

Throwing them off my bed to hear a ‘kling’ followed by a ‘blubb’ when I accidentally threw them in my cup of coffee and other stories similar to that.

The most impressive thing is, the other day I was doing laundry and I forgot I had them in my vest-pocket, realizing just that when I was searching for them to listen to this PowerPoint presentation. As you can imagine, I panicked. I ran downstairs, thew the door to the dryer open, searching for them, but of course, they were nowhere to be found. I went back upstairs, feeling sad that I would have to get new ones, and since I’d tried the new iPhone headset (which I got when I bought the iPhone 6) I feared that I wouldn’t be able to get a pair of the old ones.

When the dryer was finished I took my clothes out, finding the headset completely tangled and destroyed, or so I thought. Just to make sure I plugged them in to my phone and found that the sound actually worked. Which to me was a miracle. So I called a friend to tell this amazing story, not counting on that the microphone would also be working.

You can surely imagine my excitement when I realized they weren’t only working but now they were clean as well.

It’s been a good run so far, I hope you’ll decide to stick with me for a long time. I love you headset. Thank you for existing.

As you might know, I’m either extremely early or extremely late to the party. This time it seems like I’m late, about four or five years late.
I’m a pretty impulsive person and about two weeks ago I decided one morning when I woke up that I was gonna change my hair, that day. And I know myself well enough to know that my impulsive decisions often are the ones I’m the most satisfied with.

So this is how I did it; (please keep in mind that I am NOT a professional in any way and that this might be the worst thing that you could do to your hair)

I started off with teasing my hair until there were only small pieces of ‘loose’ hair hanging around and it felt like I had a hat on my head with all of the teased hair close to my scalp. This way there will be different length of the hair when it’s time for the bleach and it will look more natural since there won’t be an abrupt stop to the lighter parts.
After I had mixed the bleach I had to tease my hair again, since it apparently didn’t want to look like a birds nest (I do appreciate my hair doing this but this was not a good time for it to be messing with me) and I started to apply the bleach unto the tips of my hair, waited ten minutes and then applied bleach again, but this time not only the tips but also a couple of centimeters up, creating sections and waiting ten minutes between every section. I think I had about four or five sections, I can’t really remember but since I have such short hair I was worried that it was just gonna look ridiculous. And i you have a longer hair I would suggest you buying two packets of bleach instead of one. (also, if your hair is really dark)
After waiting for about 50 minutes I washed the bleach out, continuing to take a shower, since my hair was a complete mess and I needed to sort it out.
As I helper to that, I used a lot of conditioner and tried not to comb it out with a brush but with my fingers solely. It’s been damaged enough in under an hour.

This is how it looked when I got out of the shower and blow-dried it;

As you might see, it’s really damaged and I wouldn’t recommend you to do this if you’re not willing to sacrifice the quality of your hair. Still I think the result was really good, since I wasn’t completely sure what I was doing.

I’m satisfied, for now.

Hangers

The problem with regular hangers is that I could fit like ten of them in my closet. I have about 30 now. These hangers are thin and covered in some sort of stiff fabric, which makes it almost impossible for the clothes to fall off. It’s space saving and they are priceworthy.

The thing is, I could probably fit ten more in there, if I had ten more.

I bought these at Söstrene Grenes, Nordby, Strömstad. But I think I saw, when in London, that Primark was selling similar ones. So if you’ve looked at them and thought ‘nah, I’ve got hangers’ I would suggest you rethink. This will change your life. Nu-uh, I’m not over dramatic. Who said that?

Garden Mint Tea

When I was little and had a cold or was complaining about my sore throat my mother used to serve me tea made from our garden mint. As I grew older I felt like it didn’t really make that much of a difference, so I put both honey and cough drops in, just to see if it got better, and it did. This is the only thing I drink when I suffer from a sore throat or a cold. (Well.. Except for coffee, of course) It’s both soothing and fresh and hot. I love it.
I use the Vicks Honey Fresh cough drops and haven’t really tried anything else since I thought it worked so well with both the mint and the honey, but I guess you could use pretty much anything that will ‘melt’ in the hot water. Which is.. everything edible.

This drink has been my savior so many times. If you decide to try it out, please let me know what you thought of it!
